FREE CONCERT OFFER
In August 2008, Fr John Glynn & Aquila recorded their latest album,
"Let Me be your home" at Cathedral House in Brentwood. Now Fr John's
Aquila Music Trust is offering parishes a free concert for their parishioners on
one of the dates below. Because of the restricted number of dates
available, these concerts will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
The concerts include songs and psalms of hope and trust from Fr John's 3 albums,
including the world famous "I Watch the Sunrise". It is arranged into 2 x 45
minutes performances, separated by a 20 minutes interval. Concerts are offered
to parishes on the following basis:
Fr John and the other musicians receive no payment from the Trust other than out
of pocket expenses.
The Trust charges NO fee to the parish. The Trust supplies
posters, flyers and one complimentary copy of the CD [for parish use], in
advance of the concert.
The Trust does hold a collection during the interval to allow the
audience to contribute what they can or wish: 70% of the collection goes towards
meeting the costs and expenses of the concert and is taken by the Trust; 20% of
the collection is donated to the parish or a charity of its choice; and 10% is
donated to CAFOD. The Trust sells CDs, tapes and songbooks before and after the
concert and during the interval. Again. 10% of all sales go to CAFOD.
Each parish is requested to provide refreshments for the audience during
the interval. Parishes including Wickford, Wanstead, Springfield, Clacton,
Fareham, and Walsingham enjoyed the 2008 Tour and a Preview of the 2009 Tour was
held as the final ecumenical event of Hope 2008 at St Andrew's Anglican Church
in Wickford at the end of last year.
The tour dates are all on a Sunday evening and normally commence at 7.30 pm,
doors open 7pm, interval circa 8.15, recommencing 8.35 and aiming to finish
around 9.10 pm.
