LET ME BE YOUR HOME 2008
John Glynn & Aquila + The Songs
- You are the Lord God of
our fathers - A gathering song to begin the
Eucharist.
- A morning prayer links
the dawn of a new day with Christ's Resurrection
and the Holy Spirit.
- Lord, how can I repay? A
psalm expressing gratitude for God's presence
and action.
- In God alone a strong
call to trust in God.
- Will you let me in? is a
whimsical reflection on our relationship with
Him and that he invariably has the last word.
- Lord, I long to live in
your house Three verses of scripture linked
together, almost tumbling over each other in
this ostinato repetition.
- The Lord is my light
Written for the funeral Mass of Frances Savin,
this expresses the faith and hope which Frances
had in abundance.
- Penitential Song for the
procession to receive ashes on Ash Wednesday.
- Send forth your Spirit A
psalm for the Easter Vigil and Pentecost.
- Raptor of heaven - the
Holy Spirit is depicted as a dove. But the Bible
says the Spirit "seized" on "Jesse's boy". The
image of a bird of prey is the alternative.
- Make me free the first
song on which Colin Murphy and John Glynn
collaborated, I Watch the Sunrise was written
eight months later.
- I will bless your name
forever the joy of the constant presence of the
Lord in everything.
- God, you are my God A
communion song.
- Here in bread and wine
Christ comes to transform our human nature and
the whole of creation.
- What marvels the Lord
worked for us! the different feel of each verse
of this psalm demands individual treatment
musically.
- Let me be your home
written only a month before recording this
album, emerged during an Ignatian retreat.
- Aflame with the glory of
God composed to mark the priestly silver jubilee
in 1990 of Fr Brian O'Higgins.
- Jabulani "Rejoice!" in
Zulu, composed in South Africa during a visit to
our twin parish in 2007.
- Be born again God's love,
forgiveness and reassurance are always there for
us.
- Lord, come to my aid
pleads directly with God, refusing to give up on
his mercy and justice.
- Psalm for our Lady's
birthday is a deliberate echo of the Magnificat.
- Believe in me This lively
song with a calypso rhythm celebrates the faith
of Abraham, Sarah and the whole people of God.
